Top 10 Best-Selling Japanese Cars In America - Through September 2010

That which makes a Japanese car Japanese is not its place of manufacture. For one thing, parts come from all... er, parts. The design was not completed and signed off at the factory. And the company that receives the profit at the end of the day didn't build its global headquarters in the middle of Ohio.

So despite the fact that many of these cars (and eventually probably all of these cars) are American-made, they're Japanese. Why? Because the logo on the grille represents a Japanese company. This is why The Good Car Guy would (perhaps) even argue that the Saab 9-2X was Swedish. Perhaps.

Regardless of your take, here are America's Top 10 Best-Selling Japanese Cars. Take note of the declining sales of each Toyota model on the list. Clearly, in a year where auto sales were bound to rise, all that Recall stuff Toyota suffered through early on in the calendar was hurtful.
