Top 10 Best-Selling Japanese Cars In Canada - October 2010

Canadians always take to smaller cars more willingly than their American neighbours, so it isn't surprising to see the Toyota Camry left off the list of Canada's Top 10 Best-Selling Japanese Cars once again. No, more surprising than the Camry's absence are falling Toyota car sales in general and the Camry's drop in particular: 52.3% down from October 2009. With just 587 sales in Canada in October, the almighty Toyota Camry was behind the Mitsubishi Lancer as well as Subaru's Impreza and Outback.

To better news, Toyota Canada filled 40% of this Top 10 list, a figure favourably compared to Honda's 20% uptake and Nissan's 30% hold. Speaking of Nissan, although the Altima slid down this list in ranking, as the arrows point out, sales of the hulking midsize Nissan were way up in October 2010 but are still down 1.2% for the year. If strong autumn/winter sales continue Nissan should be able to steal ahead of 2009's pace. Of course, the most popular Japanese car in Canada was the Honda Civic, as usual. Civic sales are down 8.6% in 2010.
