Toyota Lexus Scion USA Sales - October 2010

The theory that Toyota's car sales are an unbreakable force doesn't jibe with October 2010's Sales Stats. Car sales at Toyota USA were down 19.6% compared with October 2009. Scion, which sells cars and nothing but, are included in that Toyota percentage decline. Thing is, if you separate Scion from the Toyota pack, Toyota's numbers get worse. See, Scion sales were up 25.7% in October, thanks in no small part to the 2011 Scion tC. Include Lexus in the mix and total Toyota Motor Corporation car sales in the USA are seen in the light of a 17% decline in October.

There are bright lights in the Toyota division. Most notable among them is the rebirthed 2010 Toyota 4Runner seen in The Good 12 Supersize v2.0. 4Runner sales jumped ridiculously compared with October 2009's abysmal totals, but grew compared with September 2010, too. Check out the Scion and Lexus model-by-model breakdowns after the jump.

It still looks the same, but the 2011 Scion tC has undergone some changes from the model that's been around since, well, has it always been around? Sales jumped dramatically from the same period of last year and even put in a 120% boost over the month prior. As for the xB and xD, not so much.

Meanwhile Lexus posted gains and was the best-selling luxury brand in America. How so? Look at its two best-sellers: as always, the RX and ES pull other Lexus models along by their bootstraps.
