Ford F-Series sales alone have risen by 31,655 units; the most popular vehicle in America produced gains of 12,437 units in May. After last May's disastrous tsunami-inflicted volume, sales of many Japanese-badged vehicles rose sharply in May 2012. Four of six Acuras, seven of ten Hondas, four of five Subarus, eight of ten Lexus vehicles, 14 of 18 Nissans, and 14 of 15 Toyotas eligible actually achieved year-over-year increases in May 2012.

Three minivans made an appearance on this month's top 30 best-selling vehicles list, up from one in April. There are also four pickup trucks, seven SUVs/crossovers, and 16 passenger cars in May's top 30. Combined the 20 leading nameplates accounted for 40.3% of America's new vehicle market in May, up from 39.7% in April.
