Top 10 Worst-Selling Vehicles In Canada - March 2013

2013 Lincoln MKS EcoBoost AWD ruby red
Ford Canada only sold 18 Lincoln MKS sedans in March 2013, a 74% year-over-year drop. It sounds awful, but it could've been worse. Lincoln only sold 11 MKSs last September; only 15 in December.

Honda Canada sells two vehicles even rarer than the MKS. BMW 1-Series sales climbed high mountains in February, but the cupboard was bare in March. Nissan continues to sell fewer and fewer Cubes. The Mitsubishi i MiEV's March output tied with May for the model's best month yet, but c'mon, it's a funny-looking all-electric car in Canada - it's not about to be common. Nissan has recorded nine consecutive months of year-over-year 370Z sales declines. Where the Audi TT sold 40 copies, Mercedes-Benz sold 54 SLKs, BMW only 20 $54,300 Z4s, and Porsche 48 Boxsters, an 860% improvement.

Every Vehicle Ranked By March 2013 & YTD Canadian Sales

One single month's placement on this Canadian version of the worst-selling vehicles list doesn't an unsuccessful car make. The Cadillac CTS is selling poorly of late, for example, but the third-generation CTS is generating big hype with its classy American design and available 420-horsepower twin-turbo V6. A year from now, we shouldn't be seeing the CTS in this space. For other reasons, the Kia Rondo shouldn't hang around long, either.

Other vehicles are intended to be ultra-low-volume vehicles. What, you think Audi should be selling dozens of R8s each month... in Canada?

Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for every vehicle can be accessed by selecting a make and model at GCBC's Sales Stats page. For a more positive outlook on the Canadian industry, check out Canada's 30 best-selling vehicles.

Vehicle must have been on sale in March 2013, must not have been officially cancelled by its manufacturer, and must have been showcased on manufacturer's website in March. The rule that disallows discontinued or cancelled vehicles can lead to confusion, as manufacturers often announce the discontinuation of a model but continue to market the car indefinitely. Sales of the Scion xD, for example, slid 53.6 % to 32 in March. Porsche didn't sell any Caymans in March.
