Number eight isn't the position most automakers strive for when they introduce a new car. But for Hyundai Canada and the company's 2011 Sonata, position numero ocho on the list of Canada's Top 10 best-selling cars in August 2010 is pretty spectacular. By finishing eighth on this list, Hyundai conquered every other midsize sedan in the country. To be frank, the 2011 Hyundai Sonata was a more popular car in Canada last month than any non-small car in the country in August 2010.
As for Hyundai as a corporate fixture, the Korean automaker landed three cars among Canada's Top 10 best sellers in August. That's more than any other automobile manufacturer. Honda, the maker of Canada's best-selling car, the Civic, only has two in the top twelve, with the Accord. Once-dominant Toyota has three in the top nineteen with the Matrix at seventeen and the Venza at nineteen. Ford has two in the top eleven - the Fusion narrowly missed out on the Top 10. And Chevrolet three in the top fifteen, the Malibu being Chevy's third most-popular in Canada in August.
Year-to-date, the Honda Civic's lead over the Mazda 3 is growing. Through August 31/2010, Honda has sold 36,824 Civics. Mazda has sold 35,747 3s. Here are the Top 10 Best-Selling Cars In Canada from August 2010.
