Small Car Sales In Canada - March 2013
Canadian sales of Hyundai's Elantra fell 5% in March 2013. That wasn't enough for the Honda Civic, despite an 1163-unit victory over the Elantra in March, to take the year-to-date lead. The Elantra remains ahead in the small car sales race, and consequently the overall passenger car sales race, by 50 units.
Canada's six best-selling cars are present in this post. Another five of Canada's 20 top-selling cars are labelled as small cars, as well. Together, those eleven cars were responsible for 21% of the new vehicles sold in Canada in March 2013. The next nine best-selling small cars - Dart, Matrix, Sonic, 500, Impreza, Lancer, Versa, Mazda 2, Fit - accounted for another 5% of new vehicle sales.Every Vehicle Ranked By March 2013 & YTD Canadian Sales

This a post which includes the most car-like small crossovers. Nissan's consumer website lists the Juke with SUVs and crossovers, for example. But in Nissan's monthly sales release, the Juke is listed with the company's cars. The XV Crosstrek is very clearly a jacked-up Impreza, and given its tweener status, we list it with both small SUVs and the small cars seen here.
Defining cars as the Automotive News Data Center does, new car sales in Canada fell 4.5% in March. Light trucks, which includes the Mitsubishi RVR, Chevrolet Trax, Subaru XV Crosstrek, Nissan Juke, Buick Encore, and Mini Countryman, posted 2.7% gains. Thank the Ford F-Series' for 1568 extra units: light truck sales increased by just 2210.
