The Dodge Grand Caravan was still the top-selling minivan in Canada, but sales slid 20%. Its closest rivals from Honda and Toyota were 2078 and 2243 sales back, respectively, even with their significant year-over-year increases.
"Full-size" minivans like the Grand Caravan, Odyssey, and Sienna were down 16.1% to 6058 units.
The smaller MPV trio, including the discontinued Chevrolet Orlando, the increasingly less popular Kia Rondo, and the surging Mazda 5, were down 18.4% to 1039 sales, just 14.6% of the overall people-carrier market.First-quarter volume was stronger this year than last, at least for the bigger vans. But as the impact of the Windsor factory's retooling and FCA's complete generational change is made more widely known, 2015 could be a slower year for the minivan market as a whole in Canada.
