Midsize Car Sales In Canada - November 2013 YTD
|
Fusion Sales Continue To Rise, But It Hasn't Been The Class Leader On A Monthly Basis Since August |
As the Chevrolet Malibu continued its slow recovery, as the year-to-date leading Ford Fusion reported a 45% increase, as Hyundai Sonata sales jumped 56%, Volkswagen Passat sales climbed 35%, and November's best-selling Toyota Camry rose 24%, Canada's midsize car market slid 1.4%.
Blame can be placed on the Chrysler 200's 346-unit decline, the Honda Accord's 132-unit drop, the Kia Optima's near halving of sales, the Mazda 6's 72% plunge, and yet more declines from the Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy, and Buick Regal.
Overall, midsize car sales fell by just 126 units. Measured by year-over-year decline, the Mazda 6 was Canada's ninth-worst-selling vehicle. Though particularly extreme, the 6's November drop wasn't a complete anomaly: sales are down 12% this year. • All 257 Vehicles Ranked By November 2013/YTD Canadian Sales• All 148 Cars Ranked By November 2013/YTD Canadian Sales

Nor was the Optima's 48% drop complete out of character for the midsize Kia, sales of which are down 22% in 2013.
Indeed, the Chrysler 200's 41% decrease was just one part of the 200's 16% year-to-date drop. The 200 will be replaced in 2014.
