Canada Auto Sales By Brand - October 2010

*updated 11/17/10*

Honda Canada is getting closer but, as of the end of October 2010, hasn't yet overtaken Hyundai Canada in overall year-to-date sales. Honda trails Hyundai by 1458 units with two months remaining. Hyundai Canada has already made 2010 a record-setting year. Last year's 12-month total has already been surpassed by over 1400 sales.

The bigger story in October 2010 was Ford Motor Company's increasing sales. Up 8.1% on October 2009's totals, Ford car sales were up 18% and truck sales were up 5%. Of course, Ford is selling the Fiesta this year, a vehicle not on the market last year. But bigger volume is bigger volume, no matter how you shake it.

Canada's best-selling luxury brand in October 2010 appears to have been Germany's BMW. Cadillac and Lincoln haven't reported but are highly unlikely to surpass BMW or second-place Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz still leads BMW in overall sales for 2010. Luxury brands are bolded in the list below. Any brand suffering a decline is shown with italics. Speaking of the italics overlaying General Motors, it should be noted that, for the four brands remaining in GM's brand portfolio, sales were up 5.8% in October. Thank vehicles like the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze for that, although the heavily discounted 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt might have more to do with it.
