Canada Auto Sales By Brand - December 2010
Don't be too quick to say it couldn't get any worse for Toyota Canada. It could. Sales could continue to fall, and could fall at even more rapid rates. Plunging from 16,472 sales in December 2009, Toyota can't blame Scion for stealing Yaris, Corolla, and Matrix sales - Scion only found 177 buyers in Canada last month. Here then Toyota sits, ranked fifth among automakers participating in the Canadian market in December 2010, every car but the Avalon posting declining sales. So how 'bout some good news? Ford's been on a roll for quite a while, December wasn't about to alter that trend. Increased sales came on the backs of the Escape and Edge, up 35 and 23% respectively. Of course, the Ford F-Series pickup range is once again Canada's best-selling vehicle, both in December and the calendar year as a whole. 2010 makes it 45 consecutive years for the Ford F-150 and its F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 cohorts. Praise General Motors also. GM says its four core brands were up 16.9% in December. As for Chrysler Canada, the company's actual Chrysler division is far from fighting fit. Jeep had a bit of a rough December, too. Dodge, thanks mainly to its truck side, fared fine but only sold 1062 cars. There's much that could be said in a roundup of overall Sales Stats from 32 brands. Updates, to include high-end brands and Suzuki (updated 01/06), will follow. 2010 calendar year figures will be published soon.
