Canada Auto Sales By Brand - November 2010
The position General Motors holds on the top spot of Canada's auto sales recap for November 2010 will be short lived. Later on in the month, GM's sales will be split brand-by-brand. So will Chrysler's (updated). So will Ford's. But with Ford Motor Company, 96% of the company's sales came from the Blue Oval, Ford itself. Ford will take over #1 (as it has) and GM's four core brands will be littered throughout (2nd, 7th, 18th and 23rd, to be precise) when updates arrive. (Fully updated below)Nevertheless, in the endless saga that is the chase for #1 in Canada, GM was the victor in November. On the year, GM is behind Ford Motor Company by about 22,000. In another oft-watched 2010 battle, Honda is now ahead of Hyundai by 230.There is very little red in the chart below. Only four out of 24 brands posted lower sales in November 2010 than in November 2009. Then again, November 2009 wasn't the best of times, but it wasn't the worst either. The Canadian passenger car market posted a 0.4% increase in November 2010. Light trucks, which out-sold passenger cars by about 14,000 units, posted a sales increase of 26.6% increase. GM, Ford, and Chrysler were out-sold by "import" nameplates by 8585. According to Desrosiers, the market was larger in November 2010 than in 2009 or 2008 but smaller than Novembers in 2004, 2005, 2007, and the best of the last eight years, November 2006.
