2009 U.S. Vehicle Sales Rankings - Top 288 Best-Selling Vehicles - Every Vehicle Ranked By American Sales Volume

2009 Ford Fusion SEL Black
2009 was the fourth consecutive year in which the American auto industry reported
fewer automobile sales than in the prior year. The new vehicle market's 21% collapse in 2009 fortunately marked the end of the rapid decline, as each of the three following year end results improved on a year-over-year basis.

America's eight best-selling vehicles reported year-over-year declines in 2009. Pickup trucks, from the top-selling Ford F-Series (down 20%) to the disappearing Mazda B-Series (down 57%), were included in the mix of dreadful results. America's five best-selling passenger cars, the top-selling utility vehicle, and the majority of minivans all failed to sell as often in 2009 as they had in 2008, when the market had slid 18%.

All 288 nameplates which were sold in the United States in 2009 are ranked in the exhaustive table which you can peruse, free of charge, any time you like. You can click any column header to sort the list differently: alphabetically, by 2008 rankings (although there's a separate post for that) and by year-over-year change. Refresh the page or click the 2009 Rank column at the far left to return to the original format.

Historic monthly and yearly sales figures for currently marketed vehicles can always be accessed by selecting a make and model at GCBC's Sales Stats page. Posts just like this one are crafted every month with monthly and year-to-date information. You can find completed ones under the All Vehicles Ranked label at GCBC's Best Sellers page.
