2008 Mastretta MTX: Mexican Mid-Engine Sports Coupe

Seems like every country has its own sports car today so when we discovered the Mastretta MTX it didn’t struck as a big surprise. Developed by Mastrettadesign, a company founded in Mexico City in 1987 that specializes in industrial design, the MTX sports coupe will be launched at the 2008 International Mexican Auto Show in December 2007 with sales (Mexican & International) starting in the first quarter of 2008.

Based on a aluminum semimonocoque chassis, the MTX features a mid-mounted, transverse placed 2.3-liter 4cylinder motor delivering 200 Hp to the rear wheels. According to the Mexican company, weighing in at 1.000 kg (2.204 lbs) the MTX will boast a 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) sprint time of 6 to 7 sec with a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). The numbers aren’t so impressive; however note that we’re talking about preliminary specs here.
