Canada's full-size, volume-brand SUV market produced a 20% year-over-year volume increase in July 2014. Sales of the GMC Yukon nearly doubled and sales of the GMC Yukon XL increased to nearly five times the strength of July 2013's performance.

The Yukon and its Tahoe twin were Canada's two favourite full-size SUV nameplates last month. The Yukon XL ranked third; the Chevrolet Suburban fifth. Combined, the quartet's July market share rose to 74.3% from 62.1% in July 2013.
Although the U.S. auto market was only 8.1 times the size of the Canadian auto market in July 2014, sales of these seven SUVs were 34 times stronger south of the border.
Together, these four big GM SUVs and their upmarket partners from Cadillac, the Escalade and Escalade ESV, generated 10.9% of GM's U.S. volume in July but only 3.3% of GM Canada's July volume.
