The Chevrolet Tahoe was America's 13th-best-selling utility vehicle in July, ahead of the GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Traverse.

In this seven-SUV category, 79.3% of the July 2014 U.S. sales were generated by GM products, down slightly from 79.6% in July 2013. Ford's Expedition market share improved from 11.4% to 14.4%. The Expedition nameplate includes sales of two models, the regular Expedition and the long-wheelbase Expedition EL.

Combined, the Suburban and Tahoe - basically different wheelbases of the same vehicle - outsold the Expedition and Expedition EL by a 3.6-to-1 count before we even take into account the fact that General Motors' GMC Yukon duo sold nearly twice as often as the Expedition lineup.

Ford also sold 634 Lincoln Navigators. The fanciest GM big SUVs, Cadillac's Escalade and Escalade ESV, generated 2467 and 1427 copies, respectively. Taking those two Escalades into account, GM's six big SUVs accounted for 10.9% of all GM sales in July 2014, up from 9% in July 2013.
