Large SUV Sales In Canada - 2009 Year End

2009 Kia Borrego
Canada's new vehicle market tumbled 11% in 2009 as the global economy tanked. Sales of full-size volume-brand SUVs plunged by more than 30% as much of the demand for family-sized vehicles that can tow and/or off-road a bit disappeared.

Canadians registered 18,567 of these vehicles in 2004, but in 2009 this group of ten accounted for just 0.5% of the new vehicles sold in Canada. GM owned 52.5% of the segment, up from 2008's 49.5%, although the Ford Expedition was the top-selling nameplate.
