August sales results for large luxury sport-utility vehicles in America revealed increasingly strong Mercedes-Benz GL-Class volume. Not surprisingly, sales of the new Range Rover continue to increase as well. Indeed, Range Rover volume jumped 48% in August even as the less costly Range Rover Sport posted a 21% increase.
Three Range Rover-branded models make up 60% of the nameplates offered by Land Rover but formed 79% of the company's August U.S. volume, up from 77% a year ago. The Range Rover Sport outsells the whole Jaguar division, and the proper Range Rover (the one shown in this post) easily sells more often than any individual Jaguar car.

The worst decline in this group in August 2013 was achieved by the Lexus LX570, which fell 35%. The most positive increase belonged to the aforementioned GL-Class, which rose 79% to 2722 units. Regular-wheelbase Escalade volume slid 5% to 1203 units. Escalade ESV sales rose 3% to 767. Escalade EXT sales fell by two units to 181.
