Minivans and muscle cars, the bane and dream of the every man. You're the rational man, but a man whose image must be beautifully garnished. So the Dodge Grand Caravan sits in your driveway with a 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0. Or perhaps it's a Mazda 5 with a Dodge Challenger, or a Toyota Sienna with a Chevrolet Camaro.
Who'm I kidding? This is a Sales Stats post, a place for realists; not dreamers. For convenience, Graphs are being combined over the summer months because The Good Car Guy needs to play more frisbee and spend more time at the beach. Forgiveness, please.
Keep in mind, these sales figures for minivans and muscle cars like the Camaro and Mustang reach all the way back to May. (Data was late arriving. Forgiveness. Please.) The impact of Swagger Wagon ads may not have been fully felt. On the other hand, Canadians love to buy automotive products a size below their American counterparts, so the Mazda 5's success shouldn't surprise. Ford's newly-found wild popularity in Canada gels nicely with the Mustang's huge lead over the Chevrolet Camaro, too. Year-to-date, however, the Camaro was out in front by 274 units as of May 31st.
