Toyota Takes Global Sales Lead Over GM in Q1 with 2.41 Million Units


While General Motors posted a 0.6% decline in its first quarter sales this year (2.25 million vehicles), Toyota Motor Corp reported today that its global sales were increased by 2.7 percent during the January-through-March period, at 2.41 million units (up from 2.35 million vehicles a year earlier). The Japanese carmaker stated that strong demand in Europe supported its worldwide sales. Toyota’s sales figures include those from subsidiary brands Daihatsu and Hino Motors.
