Top 10 Best-Selling Trucks In Canada - September 2011
A majority of Canada's best-selling truck nameplates reported declining sales in September 2011. Ford F-Series sales slid 10%. GM's twins, the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, were together down 2%. Sales of the Toyota Tacoma and Toyota Tundra fell 13% and 27%, respectively. The Nissan Frontier was off last September's pace by 24%. Together with the Dodge Ram's 35% year-over-year increase, the Sierra and Silverado were only able to finish September 245 sales ahead of the Ram. Granted, General Motors also sells the full-size Avalanche, sales of which rose 22% in September 2011.Through the first three quarters of 2011, the Ford F-Series is down 3%. Dodge Ram sales are up 15%. The GMC Sierra is down by 19 units. The Chevrolet Silverado is down 6%. Canada's overall new vehicle market is up 1.5% compared to the first nine months of 2010. The market for these four main full-size trucks has grown by 1%, and that's all because of the Ram pickup, whether its buyers were formerly owners of the Ford, GMC, and Chevy trucks or are new to the truck market. Collectively, Canada's four best-selling trucks have accounted for 15% of the country's new vehicle market this year. In September, that number rose to 17%.
