Top 10 Best-Selling SUVs In America - November 2010
Far different from the lists of the mid-90s, America's best-selling SUVs list remains very predictable. Smaller, car-based utility vehicles will sit at the forefront. A smattering of larger vehicles will find their place further back. A luxury vehicle or a large SUV or a hardcore 4x4 will fill in the gaps. November 2010's Best-Selling SUVs in America group is, apart from some switched places, and the inclusion of the Chevrolet Traverse and the exclusion of the Lexus RX, amazingly similar to the list from October 2010. Consider the price differences between America's most popular SUV and the #12 vehicle, not appearing on this list for obvious reasons. A little more than twice as popular as the Lexus, the 2011 Honda CR-V has a base price in the United States of $21,695. So keep on considering some curious facts: the 2011 Lexus RX has a base price of $37,975. Simply put, you could estimate Honda's revenue at $396 million and Lexus/Toyota's at $274 million. This is not a financial analysis by any means, but it's still an amazingly small gap for two vehicles which sell at dramatically different rates and justification for trying really hard to sell a whole bunch of premium-priced vehicles.A bigger story from November 2010's U.S. utility vehicle sales figures is the Equinox vs. Escape battle that turned in Chevrolet's favour. That was covered in this post already. In terms of the year-to-date race, with one month remaining the Honda CR-V's lead over the Ford Escape is 8254 sales strong. The Escape leads the Toyota RAV4 by nearly 19,000 sales while the RAV4's lead over the Equinox is just over 26,000. The Equinox has been Chevrolet's fourth-best-selling model line in 2010.
