Minivan Sales In America - 2003 Year End
America's minivan market shrunk by more than 60,000 sales, or 5.3%, in 2003 as the overall market slowed, as well, albeit at a much slower rate. New vehicle sales in the United States were down 1% year-over-year in 2003.

The Chrysler Group controlled much of the minivan category in 2003 with 34.8% market share, but that was down from 36% in 2002. Overall, domestic brands - including Chevrolet with the Astro and GMC with the Safari - owned 65.5% of the minivan category.
The best-selling minivan in America was the Dodge Caravan. The second-ranked Honda Odyssey was 79,331 sales back of the Dodge, which was still available in short and long wheelbase variants. General Motors sold 199,954 minivans, equal to 18.6% of the overall minivan market. GM no longer markets a minivan in America.
Ford sold 131,449 minivans in 2003. Ford no longer sells minivans in America.
