Midsize Car Sales In Canada - August 2014 YTD
Canada's intermediate car market has steadily become more disappointing over the last number of years. Most recently, sales through the first six months of 2014 were down 22%. July displayed some recovery, at least in comparison with July of 2013. August sales of midsize cars competing in Canada once again increased, albeit by just 3%.

Incidentally, while sales of the vast majority of major players have decreased in 2014, the Volkswagen Passat has been a bright spot. Passat volume is up 9% in 2014. But while the segment showed signs of small recovery in August specifically, Passat volume plunged 22%.
Sales of the Chevrolet Malibu jumped 117% last month. The Hyundai Sonata also reported more than double the volume it achieved one year ago, enough to make the Sonata Canada's midsize car leader for the second consecutive month.
Sales of the Nissan Altima, Honda Accord, and Chrysler 200 also improved. Total Chrysler Group midsize car sales, however, slid 27% as FCA decides to go it alone with a single midsize car.
