As if the Kia Soul didn't have enough going for it already, the results from its first European crash test exams are back, and Kia's Soul is safe.Strong initial sales, favourable opinions from automotive critics everywhere, and an 86% on child protection? The Kia Soul is valedictorianesque. Considering the Soul's distinctive nature, a characteristic more noticeable in North America, this Kia had it goin' on before its March on-sale date.

Yes, it's boxy like the Scion xB and Nissan Cube and even the Honda Element, but the Soul looks nice (unlike the Scion), is kind of SUV-like (unlike the Cube) and is quite inexpensive (unlike the Element). So yeah, the Soul impressed its peers.

Then April came along and the Soul accounted for approximately one-quarter of all Kia Canada sales: 1,017 of 4,276. Now, Euro NCAP testing is back, and the Soul received a score of 86% for safety assist equipment, 87% for adult occupant protection, and 39% for pedestrian protection; along with the aforementioned score above. That's enough to make the Kia Soul a 5-star car by Euro NCAP standards. That's enough to keep the Soul at the top of the heap of small cars currently available.
