And the order has changed. The Toyota Tacoma surged northward with a 27% year-over-year improvement in July 2012 to become America's fourth-best-selling truck. Toyota's smaller truck outsold the GMC Sierra by a scant 245 sales, trails the Sierra by 5547 units year-to-date, and finished the month of June 615 sales behind the GMC.
Together, the Sierra and its twin from Chevrolet, the Silverado, found barely more than 40,000 pickup buyers in July 2012. That's 9200 sales back of the class-leading Ford F-Series, America's best-selling vehicle overall.
