Ford Genk Workers Protest, Burn Tires and Set of Fireworks at Company's HQ in Germany
Ford of Europe's decision to close its Genk plant in Belgium and leave some 4,300 workers without a job by the end of 2014 didn't sit well with the factory's employees. Some 250 workers from the Genk plant travelled in busses from Belgium to Ford's European headquarters in Cologne in western Germany on Wednesday, November 7, to protest the company's plans to close the factory.
It didn't take long for things to get nasty with the angry protestors burning tires and setting off fireworks in the front of the Cologne-Niehl site, which they had blocked.
