Unfortunately that's not the case for 54 owners of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the U.S., as a supplier blunder in the part number label of the door locks resulted in a mismatch of the front and rear passenger side door locks.
And what does this mean for the owners of the affected vehicles? Well, according to Mercedes-Benz, the exchange of the front and a rear passenger side door locks results in a passenger side door that cannot be opened by only pulling the interior handle and a rear door lock that can be opened with a simple pull of the interior door handle even when it is locked...
Mercedes-Benz said that its dealers will check the part number on all door locks of the affected cars and replace any incorrectly installed door lock free of charge.
