Canada Auto Sales Brand Rankings - August 2015 YTD
Through the end of July 2015, Canadian auto sales have increased on a year-over-year basis in 28 consecutive months. Now, news that Canadian auto sales grew by more than 2% in August 2015 means auto sales have increased in 29 consecutive months, a streak stretching back to April 2013, when sales jumped 9%.
Canada Vehicle Sales Rankings By Model - August 2015 YTD
With more than 175,000 sales last month, August 2015 marked the fifth consecutive month above the 175,000 barrier. In 2015, Canadians consumers, businesses, and the public sector are buying or leasing 161,000 new vehicles each month. Sales at Canada's largest seller of new vehicles, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, increased by just 0.4% in August 2015, a gain of only 590 sales compared with August 2014. Ford continued as Canada's top-selling brand, but the overall Ford Motor Company is in danger of losing top spot to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles on a calendar year basis. FCA says they've sold 15,820 more new vehicles so far this year than Ford/Lincoln. |

Canada's fastest-growing automaker in August was Volvo. Other lower-volume brands - Cadillac and Mini – posted gains of 52% and 38%, respectively. Mercedes-Benz, not only Canada's top-selling luxury brand but also an increasingly high-volume contender, was up 30%. Among mainstream brands, Chevrolet's 12% gain was best.
On the flip side, Smart tumbled 76% as the Fortwo undergoes a replacement phase. Fiat, Buick, Kia, Ram, and Jaguar all posted double-digit percentage losses.
