Cadillac Recalls MY'04 SRX Crossovers over Transmission Problem
A minor glitch with the automatic transmission is the cause for the recall of 17,301 MY2004 Cadillac SRX crossovers. NHSTA reports that an unknown number of these vehicles have a condition in which the transmission shift lever can be moved from the "park" position with the ignition "on" and without the operator depressing the brake pedal or, in some cases, the shifter can be moved from the "park" position with the ignition turned off. This of course could lead to a serious problem if the vehicle is parked or parked on a slope. -Continued Cadillac's dealers will replace the pawl stopper and a bushing within the shifter assembly free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during December 2008 but if you want more information, you may contact Cadillac at 1-800-982-2339.
