August 2012 Top 10 Worst-Selling Vehicles In Canada
After a months-long hiatus, Mercedes-Benz B-Class tall hatches are beginning to arrive in North America again. Canada was friendly to the B-Class when the first-gen car was absent south of the border: 3207 were registered in 2008. The second-gen B-Class was slow to appear and its worst seller status in August 2012 means little. Availability will improve; desirability will increase.
Referring only to still-produced models produced by mainstream brands, all ten of the lowest-volume nameplates in Canada last month were made by Japanese automobile manufacturers. In fact, tied for the eleventh spot with the Chevrolet Suburban was the Subaru Tribeca. This isn't to say that Japanese automakers struggled in Canada in August 2012.All 259 Vehicles Ranked By August 2012 YTD Canadian Sales
As the overall industry posted, as a group, a 6.4% improvement, Toyota and Honda recorded 26% and 50% gains, respectively. Mazda's report showed a 4% increase. Subaru sales jumped 44%. Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, Scion, and Suzuki all rose at an above-average rate. |
Hardly Anybody Purchased Or Leased A Nissan Quest Before Sales Plunged 77% in August 2012. |
This leaves only Mitsubishi and Nissan with year-over-year declines. Nissan's was severe, an 18% drop. And the declines criss-crossed the brand, from the best-selling Rogue (down 52%) to the niche Cube (down 69%) to the 370Z sports car (down 67%) to the rough-and-tumble Xterra (down 39%), plus the Juke, Maxima, Armada, Frontier, Murano, Pathfinder, and Quest.
Historical monthly and yearly sales figures for specific models can always be found through the first dropdown menu at GCBC's Sales Stats home or near the top right of this page for non-mobile users. Canada's best-selling vehicles were posted earlier. And of course, detailed worst seller info is visible in the tables below.Updated @ 2:42 PM on 01.14.2013 Rank | Worst-Selling Car By Percentage Decline | % Change | August 2012 | August 2011 |
