As you'd expect, the stylish A5 Sportback will be offered at launch with the option of front-wheel-drive or four-wheel (quattro) versions as well as with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines including the 160HP 1.8-liter TSI, 211HP 2.0-liter TSI, and 143 and 170HP 2.0 TDI, and the 240HP 3.0 TDI.
In 2010 the A5 Sportback line-up will be enhanced with the addition of the range-topping S5 that will benefit from the same 3.0-liter supercharged V6 TFSI engine that's under the hood of the new S4 Sedan and Avant models. The direct-injection 3.0 TFSI cranks out 333HP at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft) which is maintaed constantly between 2,500 - 4,850 rpm. In the S5 Sportback, power will be transferred to the road through a six-speed manual gearbox or optionally, via Audi's S-Tronic 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
