Although the ranking of a number of vehicles changed dramatically compared with the list of Canada's 30 best-selling vehicles in May 2013, the vast majority of Canada's favourite vehicles at this time a year ago were still Canada's favourite vehicles in May 2014.
• All 249 Autos Ranked By May 2014 & YTD Canadian Sales
The Ford F-Series and Ram P/U were still the two best-selling vehicles; the Civic, Elantra, and Corolla were still Canada's three best-selling cars, the Dodge Grand Caravan still controls the minivan market, and the Ford Escape is still Canada's top-selling utility vehicle.
However, Canada's favourite midsize cars ranked 16th, 18th, 24th, and 27th overall in May 2013. Fast forward to last month, and the best-selling midsize cars ranked 25th, 26th, and 27th - there were only three midsize cars in the top 30. In fact, there were only 13 passenger cars in total, compared with 15 in May 2013. The Ford Focus fell from 14th spot to 19th; the Hyundai Elantra slid from third to sixth.
Never have more vehicles been sold in a single month in Canada than in May 2014. In order for the market to grow to more than 195,000 sales in May, the industry relied heavily on many of these high-volume models to produce massive year-over-year improvements. Among these 30 top sellers, the biggest improvements belonged to the Honda Fit, Nissan Rogue, and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
Compared with last month's edition of this list, the Hyundai Tucson and Nissan Versa have been knocked off in favour of the Kia Sorento and Ford Edge.
