Despite a 20% drop in volume and the 39% increase reported by its nearest rival, the Ford Escape held on to its position as the best-selling utility vehicle in Canada in July 2013.
With five months remaining, the Escape is now 5608 sales ahead of the Honda CR-V. A year ago, the Escape was only 3596 sales ahead of the CR-V.
Only in March 2013 did Mazda's CX-5 climb higher up these rankings. However, Mazda didn't sell this many CX-5s that month. With 1937 sales in July, Mazda set a Canadian CX-5 sales record. It's been on sale since February 2012. In July, the CX-5 was worth 28% of Mazda Canada's volume and 59% of Mazda's non-3 sales.
Lexus's RX was the only premium brand utility vehicle to crack this list of the 20 top-selling SUVs and crossovers. The 20th-ranked RX outsold the Acura MDX by 62 units.
