Top 13 Best-Selling Trucks In Canada - March 2013

Canadians purchased or leased 28,806 pickup trucks in March 2013. That's up 4.5% from 27,572 truck sales in March 2012. But 15 different truck nameplates were sold in March of last year, and one of those trucks, the Ford Ranger, was Canada's sixth-best-selling pickup. 

Only 13 truck nameplates were sold in Canada in March 2013. Like for like, the truck category was up 7.5% from 26,797 units at this time last year.

Canada's auto industry fell slightly less than 1% in March. So far this year, Canada's new vehicle market has fallen 1.9%. Meanwhile, pickup truck sales are up to 67,785 from 64,964 in the first quarter of 2012, a 4.3% improvement. That includes the disappearance of 2104 Ford Ranger sales and 24 Dodge Dakotas.

In January, February, and March, Canada's five best-selling pickup trucks sold more often than they did last year. The biggest gains, both on a percentage scale and on strictly volumetric terms, were generated by the two biggest-selling trucks. Canada's best-selling vehicle, the Ford F-Series, posted gains of 2892 units in the first quarter; Ram Pickup sales in Chrysler showrooms are up by 2178.
