Top 10 Best-Selling Trucks In America - September 2011

2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
For the second month in a row, the Ford F-Series, America's best-selling truck nameplate, succumbed to the force of GM's twins, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. Silverado sales shot through the roof, up 36% in September 2011.

It wasn't a bad month for the F-Series pickup line. In fact, September's 54,410 sales makes it the best month this year for F-Series volume. Sales rose 15% compared with September 2010. The F-Series was helped by the dying Ford Ranger, sales of which improved at an 88% clip, something you won't be hearing next year.

30% of the trucks on America's best-selling trucks list suffered year-over-year declines. Toyota Tacoma sales fell 8%; Toyota Tundra sales slid 3%; and the Chevrolet Colorado was off by 20%. America's four most popular trucks, the truly identifiable full-size Detroit machines, enjoyed significant gains.
