Top 10 Best-Selling SUVs In Canada - September 2010

The Ford Escape's Canadian SUV sales lead over its nearest potential rival, the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, stood at 12,111 units through the end of September 2010. It seems safe to say that in the 18 days since then, the Escape's lead has grown with runout deals on the 2010 Ford Escape and good deals on brand new 2011 Ford Escapes.

What's weird about the Hyundai Santa Fe's success in Canada (particularly compared with its decent performance in the United States) isn't the simple fact that the Santa Fe can sell. No, no, The Good Car Guy is a fan of the Santa Fe. Rather, the 2011 Kia Sorento is very similar to the Santa Fe, only with a newer, fresher design - a better design to the eyes of many - and newer/fresher normally wins. It's not as though Canadians reject Kia.

More interesting than the Jeep Wrangler's disappearance from Canada's best-selling SUV list is its replacement. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is lovely in black. It features a stellar lineup of engines. The Grand Cherokee managed to out-sell the whole Chrysler division in Canada in September. Moreover, the Grand Cherokee out-sold the Dodge car division in Canada in September, too. In a return to days of yore, the Grand Cherokee was Chrysler LLC's Fiat's third-best-selling vehicle in Canada last month, behind only the Dodge Ram and Dodge Grand Caravan (4232 sales, for the record).

And by the way, it doesn't take a genius to see where some of last year's car sales might've gone. Six out of Canada's Top 10 Best-Selling Cars posted declining sales in September 2010. Check out the gains made by each and every one of Canada's best-selling SUVs in the list below.
