The Fiesta recorded a 23.5% year-over-year increase in 2009, a gain of 22,307 units in stark contrast to the overall market's 6.4% decrease, a loss of 136,696 sales according to the SMMT.

As of this writing in early 2014, the Fiesta has yet to give up its best seller status, having owned the podium in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Nothing other than a Ford - Cortina, Escort, Focus, Fiesta - has been the UK's best-selling car since 1971 when the Austin 1100/1300 finished a four-year run.
