Setting aside the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class and Cadillac Escalade trio, Canadian sales of the biggest, highest-priced luxury SUVs rose 26% in January 2014.

Sales of the GL-Class, however, slid 43%, and Cadillac Escalade sales plunged 49%. Much of the Escalade family's decline can be traced back to the Escalade EXT's disappearing act - it'll depart with the Chevrolet Avalanche, the truck on which it's based.

Granted, sales of the regular-wheelbase Escalade fell 29% to 22 units and the Escalade ESV fell 30% to seven units.
