Canadian sales of full-size volume brand cars fell by a third in March 2015 and are down 16% through the first-quarter of 2015.

Canada Car Sales Rankings By Model - March 2015 YTD
Declines last month were reported by all but two of the nameplates shown below, the Buick LaCrosse (reviewed by GCBC last month) and Hyundai Genesis (reviewed by GCBC last summer), which has reported increased Canadian volume in 11 consecutive months.
Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Impala and Nissan Maxima, the latter of which will be replaced soon, ranked among Canada's worst-selling vehicles in March 2015.
Overall, Canada's car market was down 2% in March. The downward trend of big, luxury-oriented cars from mainstream brands displays a much sharper rate of decline than the one that's affecting passenger cars as a whole.

* Genesis refers only to the sedan, not the coupe. For Canadian purposes - Hyundai USA doesn't yet breakdown sales figures for the sedan and much less costly coupe - the Genesis will now be shown with both these volume brands, with which Hyundai is a direct competitor, and midsize luxury cars, with which the Genesis competes.
