At least temporarily, at least for the month of May 2014.

U.S. large car sales at volume brands were up 6% in May 2014. Year-to-date, sales of the same cars are down 6%. The Impala's year-over-year improvement of 2507 units made the biggest difference.

Meanwhile, sales of the Buick LaCrosse, Chrysler 300, Ford Taurus, Hyundai Azera, and Nissan Maxima kept on doing what they've been doing: decreasing.

Indeed, sales of the civilian Taurus fell 8% to 6020 units. The Taurus Police Interceptor was up 28% to 974 sales. Ford also sold 2277 copies of the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility. Not shown here are the 241 May sales generated by the Chevrolet Caprice PPV.
