2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate Scooped Lightly Camouflaged

As we are heading closer to the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the Estate version of the all-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class is loosing more and more of its camouflage. In these latest spy photographs, the 2010 E-Class Estate's profile with its "swoopier" roofline as well as its more distinct rear-end can now be seen clearly. Though the latest load-loving E-Class looks like it will have a sportier stance than the current model, Mercedes' primary goal is once again to create the most practical and spacious premium station-wagon on the market.

Consequently, the new estate will be bigger than the current E-Class Estate, which is already the largest executive station wagon model on the market. Aside from the longer wheelbase, the new E-Class Estate will be longer and wider than its predecessor thus promising to offer improved passenger and luggage space.

Inside, the new Estate will benefit from the recently revealed E-Class sedan's new cabin design that borrows heavily from the GLK crossover's hard angle theme and includes some S-class characteristics such as the shifter which has moved off the floor and onto the steering column.

Don't expect any surprises under the hood as the W212-series E-Class estate will be offered with the same powertrains as the sedan model. The gasoline engine range will include a 204HP 1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder unit, a 3.5-liter V6 with 292HP and a 5.5-liter V8 with 388HP for the E500.

Diesel options will include a two new 4-cylinder engines with 136- and 170HP, a 204HP twin-turbocharged 2.2-litre unit and a 3.0-liter V6 with 231HP.

Sitting at the top of the range will be the E63 AMG Estate model powered by a 525HP 6.2-liter V8 unit.

Sales of the new E-Class Estate are due to begin in late 2009 and early 2010 in some markets including North America.
